Audio for the flight

Flights from Moscow to the transit city typically take around 9 hours, so you can spend the time watching something from the in-flight entertainment system. On many aircraft, instead of a standard 3.5mm jack, a dual jack is used, and crew members distribute simple disposable headphones for it.

You can get an adapter of the following type on marketplaces:

  • “headphone adapter for airplane”

You can use your own wired headphones or, with an additional adapter, Bluetooth headphones.

Charging on board

Under current rules, using or charging a powerbank is prohibited on most flights. However, USB-A ports are often available in the armrests or in the entertainment system, which can be used for slow charging. There are also regular power outlet sockets available.

In Japan

Japan uses a flat plug, like in China and the US, with a voltage of 100V. If your devices support 100-220V, you can just buy a plug adapter.

In most countries, you can buy a “USA to EU” adapter online. In Japan, adapters are available at Biccamera, Yodobashi and Don Quijote. This adapter only changes the contact layout and does nothing with voltage, so hair straighteners and hair dryers with 220V only should be left at home.

Also check the power chargers — they often come with a US/CN plug, and the common EU plug is an additional attachment that can be easily removed.

Dyson

Dyson Supersonic, Airwrap, and Airstrait products are designed for a single voltage—either 100V (JP|US) or 220V (EU), depending on the region of the purchased version. The weight of an additional 220V to 110V transformer rated at 3000W is 6 kg. The Dyson Supersonic Travel supports dual voltage, but it is currently a new model. Battery-powered versions like the Corrale are typically universal and support 100–220V, but they must be carried in carry-on luggage in accordance with airline requirements.

Another option is to rent items for the duration of your trip; there are many places offering daily rentals. However, it’s worth checking what’s available at your hotel first, as local Refa and similar services can be quite effective without any extra cost.
