What to see

In Shimoda, Izukyū-Shimoda Station is the hub of everything—most activities start right from here. If your hotel is far away, it makes sense to simply leave your luggage at the station’s lockers (they accept IC cards or cash) after check-out. Much of the city is tied to the arrival of the black ships and the local specialty, the fish kinmedai.
